History of India
Saw Vir Das’ History of India last week. It’s a show I have been wanting to see for quite a while. It’s really, really good. Funny (obviously, since it’s pitched as stand-up comedy), biting wit, scathing at times, cuts to the bone…all in all very nice.
As always with something good, you want more. I thought that he missed out on many noteworthy names and incidents, but I guess we have such an incredible number of characters in our glorious history to make fun of that even a comedian must make his choices. The only way he could incorporate every single clown would be to do a 6 hour marathon…and that wouldn’t be funny:( – so yes, you have to make your choices.
But I would be interested in the 6 hour version. Filmed, direct to DVD, sold at a premium. I would definitely buy it and keep it as a collector’s item…and I believe many others would do too. I have 3 copies of Jerry’s final stage show titled “I’m telling you for the last time”…this is an amazing performance. If you haven’t seen it, acquire it and savor it – It’s the absolute best!!!
I think it makes great commercial and comedic sense to capture such unique artwork on celluloid and preserve it for posterity.
